A 1-day course for people who have previously attended The RAID® Course. We bring the training to your own organization and up to 15 people can attend for a fixed all-inclusive fee, no matter where you are.
Executive Summary:
The 3-day RAID® course is a leading positive behavior support approach for tackling challenging behavior at source: over 20,000 professionals have attended it. The purpose of the refresher day is to literally ‘refresh’ delegates who have previously attended the course: to re-invigorate them and to bring them up to speed with any developments that have occurred since they originally attended their training.
The Aims of The RAID Refresher Day:
- To revise the major components of the RAID approach.
- To address any issues that have become apparent for delegates implementing the RAID approach.
- To correct any misconceptions that have crept in since the original course.
- To renew delegates’ APT Registration and access to RAID materials on the web.
- To literally ‘refresh’ delegates who have previously attended the course: to re-invigorate them.
- To bring delegates up to speed with any developments that have occurred since they originally attended their training.
Who should attend The RAID Refresher Day:
Everybody who has previously attended The RAID® Course. Some people wait for up to three years and then renew their APT Registration and their access to RAID materials on the web; other services deem it good practice to have RAID refresher days every 1-2 years.
The RAID Refresher Day covers the following:
- Getting back into gear: what delegates remember from their original training.
- RAID questions for the tutor: "open house" where delegates anonymously write down any questions they wish, for the tutor to respond to.
- RAID exemplars: the finest examples of RAIDing that delegates can produce, either from their work situation or from the domestic situation.
- Coverage from the tutor of any new materials, or any new "takes" on materials, that have occurred since the original training.
- Exercise: delegates use a RAID care plan template to form a model RAID care plan for one of their patients.
- "Fresh ideas": delegates exchange all their most difficult problems, and answer them for each other under the guidance of the tutor.
- Latest developments: the tutor covers other RAID developments such as: RAID centres of excellence; Management-RAID; the RAID parent-support programme.
- Prepared RAID puzzles: the tutor presents prepared RAID conundrums for teams of delegates to solve.
- Registration: delegates register, in order to receive their certificates, and to "set the clock running again" on their access to web-based RAID materials.
What The RAID® Course will do for you:
- You will revisit the major components of the RAID approach.
- You can address any ‘issues’ that have become apparent in implementing the RAID approach.
- The tutor will spot and correct any misconceptions that have crept in since the original course.
- Your APT Registration and your access to RAID materials on the web will be renewed.
- You will feel literally ‘refreshed’ in your approach to RAIDing, and to your work.
- You will be up to speed with any developments that have occurred since you originally attended your training.
- You will have the chance to address any RAID issues that have been on your mind or you are reminded of on the day.
What you receive as a result of attending the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT Registration Level 1, and receive a certificate to this effect. The registration gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT Registration to Level 2 (note, the exam is inbuilt into the 'online anytime' version of the course).
Your record of attendance lasts indefinitely, whilst your APT Registration Level lasts for 3 years from the date of completion and is renewable.
