Executive Summary:

Clinical supervision is a key concept that many people are unclear about. Unclear whether 'supervision' means that you should be ensuring that the supervisee is 'doing it right' or whether you should be providing a sounding board for the supervisee to develop their clinical thinking, or what. And many people are equally unsure about exactly what their professional body has to say about it, and where to find that out.

This course is designed to clear up all of the above by looking at what we need to achieve in supervision, how to establish a competent supervision contract, and how to deliver on that contract. The aim is, therefore, that by the end of the course you will both (a) know about clinical supervision and (b) be good at providing it.

The course aims:

What the course covers - the syllabus:

What the course will do for you:

What you receive as a result of attending the training:

You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.

Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.

Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 150,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.

FAQs:

Can I call myself a Clinical Supervisor after attending this course?

This is post qualification training so it is for people with the seniority to be supervisors who want to make sure they provide supervision as well as they can. The people who normally attend are – or about to be - supervisors in their own service, rather than people wishing to provide freelance supervision, although it is possible to offer your freelance services so long as you are totally transparent as to what qualifications you have and what training you have received.

APT Accreditation

As a bona fide APT event, this course automatically has accreditation from The Association for Psychological Therapies. This means (i) that it contains the right amount of relevant information for its duration, and (ii) the information is presented in an engaging way, and in a way that will make it likely to be used after the course. APT verifies the accreditation by publishing the delegates' average ratings of relevance and presentation-quality for all its accredited courses. The accreditation is given value by over 150,000 professionals having attended APT courses.
