You can be secure in the knowledge that when you have an APT Tutor running a course in your organization you are in safe hands.
APT tutors are senior mental health professionals (Consultant Clinical Psychologists or similar), have a very good academic knowledge, and an aptitude for presenting information in a way that makes it interesting and relevant.
Becoming an APT Accredited tutor is a significant professional accolade in that it demonstrates a substantial CV and excellent references from two specified referees. The references are very searching, detailed and objective. Referees are invariably impressed by the inability to 'fudge the issue' when completing the purpose-built form.
Once a tutor has been accepted they are required to complete an online course and are then normally eligible to run APT courses only within their employing organization, which enables them to demonstrate the level of their abilities and build their way up to becoming Level 2 Accredited.
Level 2 Accredited tutors must have received an average rating of over 90% on two evaluation scales (Presentation and Relevance), over at least 5 courses. Only when they have achieved this are they eligible to run courses outside of their own organization, for example in yours.
APT then continues to monitor the feedback from every delegate on every course, to maintain the levels of presentation and relevance that people have come to expect.
Below are just some of the great testimonials our tutors/courses receive:
“I have heard so much about APT courses but have never had the privilege of attending one until now. I have to say that in 18 years working in mental health I have attended many courses but these past 3 days have surpassed all of them. The information and manner in which it was presented was excellent. My advice to anyone who has not been on an APT course is 'get yourself on one.' Thanks."
Tommy McLeod, OT and CB Therapist
"The tutor successfully completed the almost unheard of task of providing excellent, informative training to a group of very tricky psychologists! He was interesting, knowledgeable and greatly added to our understanding. He represented APT very, very well and he has increased my likelihood of using APT again.”
Joyce Fullarton, Principal Psychologist
"I have actually stopped applying for any non APT courses as they far exceed the content and presentation of any other NHS course I have been on in my 20+ years experience of psychiatry. Many thanks."
Tony White, GP Liaison CPN
“The course was brilliantly delivered throughout and the trainer was excellent. Content and practical activities were very relevant and applicable to practice, ensuring that you leave the course with something to take to practice. The most useful and motivational training I have attended through our organization."
Kara Austin, Staff Nurse
“The course was superb! A good mixture of presenting was incorporated into the 3 days so that the material never got boring! The tutor was friendly, non-threatening and had a very pleasant and welcoming manner. An excellent 3 days! Thanks.”
Kerry Edwards, Community Nursing Team Manager
“Absolutely fabulous! ... Thank you for presenting in such an easy to follow way. Brilliant.”
Sarah Cimikoglu, Specialist CAMHS Nurse
“The course was enjoyable, interesting, relevant and well pitched both in terms of content and pace. The presenter had a clear understanding of our role and the ways in which we support others which meant that examples were relevant. Activities were useful and meaningful. Thank you very much! I look forward to my next APT course!”
Sarah Jamieson, Educational Psychologist
“The course was extremely well presented by a trainer who clearly had extensive expertise and skills in working with complex presentations.”
Marriane Nolan, Clinical Psychologist
“Finally a training course where I have learnt practical skills to use within my job role! Good mix of content set at a pace that was easy to follow. Excellent tutor who made the content interesting, relevant and fun.”
Sally Cuts, Social Worker
4 simple steps:
1. Check your eligibility.
2. Apply by submitting your abbreviated c.v.
3. If your brief c.v. is suitable, we will ask you to submit the names of two referees.
4. If your references are suitable, you sit a short online module (free of charge) all about how to present APT courses and the standards required and, when you pass the exam at the end of the module, you become accredited.
You can then run suitable APT courses in your organization at half the price they would be otherwise, yet still with the same workbooks, APT-accreditation etc for delegates on the courses.
