'Preventing PTSD in Survivors of Traumas, at work and elsewhere' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited training for professionals working in mental health and related areas.
It is the only PTSD training that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams/organisations and can be attended face-to-face or online. (2-day version also available.)
The focus of this course is to provide an overall plan for post-incident management – to prevent major long-term effects taking hold. It is possible that the 'therapy' you do shortly following an incident may be helpful for ever.
The course is intended for both of two purposes: (a) where a major incident has occurred at work, e.g. an assault, a suicide, etc and (b) where a major incident has occurred in the locality, e.g. a factory explosion. It is not about treating PTSD, it is about preventing it. This is a difficult area and one where there are few established guidelines. We are therefore pleased to have built a well received input to address this very important topic.
People who attend this course normally fall into one of two categories:
1. Professionals who see patients in 1:1 treatment settings and have a significant degree of clinical skill.
2. 'Whole teams' (either in inpatient or community settings) seeking to have a common approach.
The 3 phases to excellent organizational support:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 125,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.

APT prides itself on the feedback we receive about our courses. Below are just some of the great comments the Preventing PTSD in Survivors of Traumas, at work and elsewhere course has received.
"The tutor successfully completed the almost unheard of task of providing excellent, informative training to a group of very tricky psychologists! He was interesting, knowledgeable and greatly added to our understanding. He represented APT very, very well and he has increased my likelihood of using APT again.”
The best course I have been on in years. I feel empowered to make a change.”
