The APT Diploma in Working with Risk.
The APT Diploma in Working with Risk provides 90 hours of focused training and is from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of training for professionals working in mental health and related areas.
It is the only 'Risk' Diploma that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams and individuals and can be attended face-to-face or online.

The APT Diploma in Working with Risk provides 90 hours of training, leading to Level 4 APT accreditation. Attend the diploma as an individual or we can bring the training to you for a fixed fee, to ensure you get a supportive group addressing the same material.
The diploma comprises 90 hours of training made up by selecting 15 days of training from the list of courses below. If you are attending as part of a team then your team/organization chooses the courses and you then all attend the same ones:
Risk Assessment and Management:
- The DICES® Risk Assessment and Management System (3-days / 2-days)
- Assessment, Risk Assessment, and Intervention, in Crisis Situations (3-days / 2-days)
- Assessment & Risk Assessment of Children & Adolescents in Crisis™ (3-days / 2-days)
- Aggressive-Behavior Control: The ABC Course™ (2-days / 1-day)
- Suicide-Risk Assessment and Management (2-days)
Working positively with challenging and difficult behavior:
Therapeutic Interventions for those at risk:
- CBT Plus, for Anger and Violence (3-days)
- The ADDRESS® Course for working with Personality Disorder (3-days)
- CBT Plus, for Suicide Prevention (3-days)
- Trauma focused CBT, for all ages (3-days)
Therapeutic Interventions for those at risk:
- Preventing PTSD after major incidents at work and elsewhere (3-days / 2-days)
- Learning the lessons from major incidents (3-days / 2-days)
To be awarded the diploma, students must also complete an online exam (in their own time) after each course.
If you have already attended one or more of these courses in the last 2 years, then you have an exemption for that subject(s), you don't need to attend the same course again. If you have already attended the equivalent of one or more of these courses from another training-provider in the last 2 years, then again you have an exemption for that subject(s), although you do need to submit evidence of the training and pay a reading fee for APT assessing it.
Please note that the diploma should be completed in not more than 2 years from the date you undertake the first course.
The Diploma can also be awarded by completing the individual courses separately, across 2 years.
What you receive as a result of attending the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining The APT Diploma in working with Risk, and receive a certificate to this effect and Level 4 accreditation which gains you access to the resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation to use the resources lasts for 3 years and is renewable by attending a Masterclass top-up day or submitting evidence of continued practice, and your reflections on that practice (to the required level).

Live and interactive online course, delivered via Zoom or Teams* exclusively for your team or organization. Price: $27,900* for a group of up to 15 people, extra delegates $1,850 per person. (price includes a workbook for every delegate, posted to one address, or a PDF version can be provided). *We standardly deliver courses via Zoom (which is recommended). If you would prefer to use Microsoft Teams, there is an additional charge of $120 USD per day. Option 2: Face-to-Face Onsite course: We bring the course and tutor to you for a fixed fee. Suitable for teams and organizations. Price: $42,175 (plus tutor travel and accommodation expenses) for a group of up to 15 people. Extra delegates: $2,775 per person. Workbooks for every delegate are included in this price. Option 3: 'Train the Trainer': If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course - or your chosen modules from it - in your own organization, under license. his is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organization the tutor-component of the fee each time you run it or your chosen modules (50% of the 'Online Live and Exclusive' fee, regardless of whether the course is held face-to-face or online).
