'Adult ADHD: Key Knowledge and Skills' is a 2-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider training for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.
It is the only Adult ADHD training that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams/organisations and can be attended face-to-face or online. (Child and Adolescent version also available.)
Executive Summary:
ADHD has become an increasingly common diagnosis in recent years and is one that can cause confusion and concern. Recently increasing emphasis has been placed on adults with ADHD, a group that has not received the attention they deserve.
This course therefore takes a dispassionate view of the nature of ADHD, the far reaching problems it can cause for people, both the patient and those around them. Most importantly though, it details what effective psychosocial interventions are available to benefit those involved and also those around them.

What the course will do for you:
- You will know about ADHD: what it is, how it develops, what the diagnostic criteria are, how it appears in adults.
- You will be able to do a proper structured assessment of people with ADHD, and have a form to help you do so.
- You will be able to make sense of the information you gather in the assessment, to produce a case formulation with a resulting treatment plan.
- You will know about treatment strategies for adults with ADHD, both individually and in groups.
- You will know about what NICE recommends, and you will know about Biopsychosocial interventions.
- You will have information sheets to give to your patients, and to work through with them.
- You will know how to 'take the course forward'.

What you receive as a result of attending the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
